Akzo Nobel International Paints in Felling, Gateshead.

For health and safety reasons, it was necessary to attempt to relocate a portion of the Tyne Kittiwake colony at Akzo Nobel in Felling on the Gateshead side of the river Tyne.  The owners very kindly constructed some ledges for the Kittiwakes to use during the 2024 breeding season.  

Akzo Nobel is home to the » 3rd largest colony of Tyne Kittiwakes; with up to 262 pairs nesting.  This remains one of the oldest colonies along the river Tyne.  This colony is best viewed from the Newcastle side of the River Tyne; whilst in » Walker Riverside Park.
